The latest COLLUSION drop puts a playful, expressive spin on classic motocross styles

The next COLLUSION drop has arrived. Inspired again by our founding collaborators - Spencer, Grace, Clarissa, Jebi, Chidera and Rene - Motocross both celebrates and disrupts athleisure via scuba, bold hues, and eye-popping logos. From psychedelic brights to chequered prints and washed-out pastels, the group infused the collection with their own expressive, creative nature, making for a drop that’s big on colour, texture and playfulness.

As ever, COLLUSION is inspired by the world that its six collaborators inhabit, with YouTubers Spencer and Grace, artists Rene and Jebi, stylist Clarissa and author Chidera bringing their own personalities to the brand. Heading to Brick Lane in East London, the group scoured vintage shops for inspiration. Here, they found a pair of motocross trousers from the 80s, piquing their interest and leading them to once again shape the COLLUSION DNA. Practical but knowingly kitsch, the multitasking motocross style they subsequently landed on is heavy on nostalgia and nods to Japanese racing culture. Focusing in on their inspirations, the group assembled a moodboard featuring everyone from Cardi B in Migos’ Motorsport video to an image from Clarissa’s own Instagram page - where she teamed a moto jacket with neon heels - to Adwoa Aboah wearing racing pants between shows at New York Fashion Week. And so, the backbone of the collection - which started with that stand out find - was formed back at COLLUSION Studios, with the collaborators stepping in to offer their creative energy and input along the way

Naturally, the resulting vision of motocross comes complete with the playful touches you can expect from the COLLUSION design team, thanks to its matchy-mismatchy prints and highlighter palette. At a time when virtual reality and AI seem more accessible than ever, the drop dips a toe into future-facing worlds while keeping a sportswear feel. Nowhere is this more evident than on a black jersey with purple, tribal-inspired graphics. There’s space for more muted colours too; one of the hoodies, emblazoned with ‘baiku’, a Japanese slang term for a motorcycle, comes in a washed out hue called neo mint (the colour tipped to succeed millennial pink as the shade we’ll be seeing everywhere in the coming seasons, FYI).

As usual with COLLUSION, these are clothes to wear together or apart, styling as you see fit and taking liberties as you go. The black, spandex-heavy shorts, complete with rubberised ‘burnout’ graphic are perfect with a hoodie, but could look even better with a structured blazer. Meanwhile, the cut-out detail scuba dress with purple piping reminiscent of racing stripes takes you from the track to the rave, its seatbelt-style belt adding a touch of utility chic. For fans of colourblocking with powerful hues, a zip-top and jogging pant combo with purple and red panels is just the right side of in-your-face. Similarly, a mesh crop top with cut-out detail is sporty but sensual, in a bright stop-sign red and classic black.

Pushing athleisure past the obvious, and into something strong, gender-free and fun, COLLUSION X Motocross is a collection that fuses a timeless sports aesthetic with the collaborators’ expressive nature.
